Frequently Asked Questions

WHERE DO I BRING MY DOG FOR THE RUN/WALK?

Next year, it will be back in Stanmer Park, Brighton BN1 9SE. For 2021’s Virtual K9 Challenge, you can take your dog wherever you feel comfortable completing your distance.

HOW DO I FIND STANMER PARK? (2022 EVENT)

If coming from the direction of Lewes/Eastbourne, turn off the A27 heading into Brighton on the A270, keep left and follow the sign for Stanmer Park. Take the turning on the right (Just past the bus stop) and follow Stony Mere Way to Stanmer Park (sign posted) at the traffic lights.
If coming from Brighton, follow the A270 (in the Lewes direction) and take the first left after Coldean Lane.
The closest railway station is Falmer Railway Station, a five minute walk. Use the subway under the A27 to get to the park. Train times can be found at www.nationalrail.co.uk
You can also cycle to the park (limited cycle parking is available, at your own risk).
Stanmer Park is on a major bus route from central Brighton – number 25 or 25X, or the 78 goes right into the park. Full timetables can be found at www.buses.co.uk

WHEN IS IT?

You can complete your 5km or 1km run or walk anytime between 1st June and 30th September 2021.

HOW MUCH IS IT?

The Entry fee is only £10 for you and your dog. This covers the costs of your medal, matching dog tag, bandana, postage and packaging and promotion of the event.

WHAT TIME DO WE NEED TO BE READY TO RUN / WALK? (2022 EVENT INFO)

The event starts at 11am. We will be sending the runners and their dogs off first, followed by the walkers. The registration/help desk will open at 9:30am and close at 10:45am.

WHAT TIME CAN WE ARRIVE AND GET SOMETHING TO EAT AND DRINK? (2022 EVENT INFO)

We have asked exhibitors and caterers to be open by 9am.

WHEN DO I RECEIVE MY RACE NUMBERS? (2022 EVENT INFO)

Both you and your dog will collect your race numbers from the registration/help desk on the morning of the event. This will be open from 9:30am. You will be emailed full participant information at least one week prior to the event. You will need to bring this email with you, along with photo ID (for you, not the dog!) Please note that the registration/help desk will close at 10:45am.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER RESTRICTIONS REGARDING MY DOG??

Yes there are. Please visit the section ‘GUIDANCE TO RUNNING WITH DOGS’ for this information.

IS THE EVENT ORGANISED FOR A CHARITY?

We always donate a percentage of the monies taken from entry fees to an animal related charity. 2021 is still to be confirmed.

HOW DOES MY DOG WEAR A RACE NUMBER? (2022 event info)

He/she will be given a race number to go round his or her neck, similar to a festival wristband. You will be able to write emergency contact details on the back of this as we don’t want any dogs going missing in the woods! We also want your dog to feel as part of the event as you will.

MEDALS AND DOG TAGS?

Each entry will get a medal and each dog will be given a matching dog tag for his or her collar.

GOODY BAGS? (2022 EVENT INFO)

Every entry receives a reuseable cloth bag at the end, with treats for both the runners/walkers and their dogs.

WHAT WILL BE DIFFERENT IN 2022?

The new K9 Challenge Dog Show will return, as well as the agility course. Other changes and improvements will be announced via social media.

IS THERE PARKING? (2022 event info)

Stanmer Park has limited parking within its boundaries. All parking within the park itself is now pay and display. Please do not park on the road as this will block the 78 bus route and your car will be towed away. Please arrive early enough to find suitable parking and make your way to the registration desk.

TOILETS & CHANGING FACILITIES? (2022 EVENT INFO)

We will be providing toilet facilities in the event village (nearest public toilets are located in Stanmer Village) and there will be dog waste bins provided. We ask that if your dog needs a pre race ablution, please pick it up! We will have some spare poo bags available.
Unfortunately we will not be providing changing facilities or bag storage so please bring as little as possible to the event, or bring a friend to watch who can look after your belongings and cheer you across the finish line.

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS? (2022 EVENT INFO)

Humans must be 16 or older to enter and dogs must be 12 months or older. We welcome children running or walking with their parents at no extra charge, but they must be accompanied and feel comfortable around other dogs.

IS THE RUN CHIP TIMED? (2022 EVENT INFO)

No it isn’t. We want this to be a relaxed, all inclusive and friendly run/walk. It’s all about the taking part, not the winning!

WELFARE FACILITIES? (2022 EVENT INFO)

Please bring your own water for your consumption before the event. We will have dog bowls with dog water available at the start/finish but please do bring extra with you for your dog. Finisher water will be available.
First Aid facilities will be on site for runners/walkers, and we will have our event vet on call for our furry friends.

WHAT TIME IS THE DOG SHOW AND HOW DO I ENTER? (2022 event info)

Returning for 2022, we will have a K9 Challenge Dog Show! Visit the Dog Show section of our
website for further information. It will start promptly at 10am.
